Nicole Holifield is the Director of the Library, where she's been since March of 2015. Nicole studied Social Psychology at Parkville University and obtained her MSW, Masters in Social Work from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. She proceeded to work in the social work field for 15+ years as a Social Worker and Manager over a homeless program, services for pregnant women, private adoptions, and children/adult with serious and persistent mental illness. Nicole previously worked several Tonganoxie Public Library jobs such Library Aide and Children/Adult programmer before being hired as the Director.
What are some of your favorite books?
My favorite book of all time is Little Women and I collect versions put out by different publishers. Other books I like are….The Shack and anything by Wally Lamb.
What is one thing about the library that many people may not know? That we have over 26,000 books in this library!!!
If you could have one author visit the library for a book signing, who would it be?
David Sedaris or Jonathan Franzen
If the library could have a special section with just books of your favorite topic, what would it be filled with?
Garfield comic books….anything by Jim Davis. Love Garfield.
Besides the library, where would we find you?
My favorite restaurant is J Gilberts and my new favorite spot is Meyers Hotel for their coffee/hot chocolate. Love coffee shops!!
Where have you never been but always wanted to go?
Oh my there are soooo many places!!! I would say anywhere in Spain….Rio De Janeiro, Brazil to see Christ Redeemer in person and lastly, the Northern Lights in Iceland.
Favorite vacation spot?
I have a lot of them because of the people I was with…that makes all the difference in the world. If I had to pick though it would be Cape Cod, Massachusetts.
