Board Seeks New Director

The Board of Trustees for the Tonganoxie, Kansas Public Library is accepting applications to fill the position of Library Director.
Tonganoxie, a community of 4,100, is located in Leavenworth County in northeast Kansas. It is conveniently situated approximately 30 miles west of Kansas City, 15 miles southwest of Leavenworth, Kansas and 15 miles northeast of Lawrence, Kansas.
The Tonganoxie Public Library is housed in a 6,000 square foot facility built in 1991. In the 2007 Kansas Public Library Rankings, the Library was ranked 4th in the state. The 2008 budget for the Tonganoxie Public Library is $290,000. The collection consists of 26,300 items and 18% of the budget is dedicated to collection development.
The Library Board is seeking a person with a Masters in Library Science with at least 5 years experience. The Director is responsible for all library operations and supervision of staff, budget, programming and service to the public. Candidates should be versed in all facets of current technology and possess supervisory, communication, organizational, interpersonal, decision-making and public relations skills that have been demonstrated in a library setting.
