Festival of Mini Trees

Season’s Greetings,

The Library is participating in the City’s holiday festivities this year by hosting a Festival of (mini) Trees fundraiser, with an opening reception to coincide with the Mayor’s Christmas tree lighting on December 4th, 2008.  Many people in the area are familiar with the Lawrence Festival of Trees fundraiser that supports The Shelter, Inc., and our Festival is modeled after that, only on a smaller scale.

We envision miniature artificial Christmas trees, decorated with inventive and whimsical themes, displayed on top of the book shelves throughout the Library, with an opening reception on the night of the Mayor’s tree lighting ceremony.  These donated trees will be sold by silent auction and the proceeds will be used to purchase additional audio books for the Library.

Here is additional information about the Festival:

•    All festival events are held at the Tonganoxie Public Library (303 S. Bury)
•    Donations are accepted from everyone—businesses, organizations, families or individuals.
•    Artificial trees must be between 2 and 3 feet tall, to fit on top of the book shelves.
•    Any lights should be battery operated.  The trees will be displayed lit during the opening reception only.
•    Decorated trees can be dropped off at the Library on Monday, November 10 between 9 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.
•    Public Viewing and Silent Auction:  Wednesday, November 12 through Saturday, December 6.
•    Festival Opening Reception with lit trees:  Thursday, December 4th after the Mayor’s Tree Lighting.

We ask that the trees be brought in pre-decorated, with all decorations securely fastened and on a stand that will support the tree so it can stand on its own.

Enclosed is a contract for participation in this first Festival of (mini) Trees.  If you are interested in participating this year, please return the contract to me no later than Friday, November 7th.  We need to know how many groups are interested in participating.  If you have any questions, please e-mail me at director@tonganoxielibrary.org or call the Library at 913-845-3281.

Thank you for your support of the Tonganoxie Public Library.
